EGO / NÉMESIS
Ego, Némesis is Borràs Studio’s debut: a body of work reflecting on inner conflict and emotional transformation, with pieces conceived as works of art. It begins with the idea of one’s own existence as the enemy, shaping an inner battle where the mind becomes hostile territory, a war you cannot flee because you wage it against no one but yourself. It is a narrative universe of ten designs across three arcs, where each look takes shape as a character embodying an emotion of the journey: trauma, melancholy, self-sabotage, vulnerability, paranoia.
Narrative arcs
Arc I · Introspection (Trauma, Midnight Tears)
Connection with oneself, a conversation with the subconscious, recognizing and unmasking the original wounds and dealing with one's own pain. The collection's beginning unfolds as a ritual experience with the deepest expressions of the subconscious, which shape the more surface ones from the shadows: trauma, melancholy, solitude and self-sabotage.
Arc II · Confrontation with reality (Asylum)
A clash with the outside world, a disconnection from one's own mind. A vulnerable existence, under surveillance and in evasion.
Arc III · Distorted perception (Found in the Shadows, Glimpse of a Nurse)
Disociación de la realidad, amenaza, persecución perpetua y paranoia. El mundo interno y el externo chocan, fragmentando la percepción de lo que es real o ilusión.
Creative process
The project starts with an introspective analysis, followed by cross-disciplinary research in fashion and other creative fields. I developed textile samples through experimental dyeing, manipulation and printing, later combined into collage-based design proposals.
From that process I identified several emotional states or stages that became the conceptual pillars of each look, connected through a narrative that traces an inner journey, from trauma to emotional distortion.
I built moodboards exploring abstract ideas with symbols, textures and artistic references, especially from pictorial surrealism, which became the basis of each design.
My way of working fuses my 3D origins with manual prototyping and construction: I iterate digital pattern-making, complemented with draping and physical making, to develop hybrid pieces where both disciplines need each other.
Colour plays an essential narrative role throughout the collection. The palette is dominated by deep blacks, a metaphor for emptiness, weight and introspection. Contrasting tones appear strategically: carmine evokes pain and violence; grey speaks of numbness and disconnection; while blue and gold emerge briefly as symbols of melancholy, hope and transcendence.
